Scotty Dog...our rescue effort

Here's a couple of pics of precious Scotty Dog. He is a dalmation/lab mix. He is about 4 years old and a laid back ol' guy. We tried to rescue him from a local rescue organization, but found out that our kids have more severe dog allergies than we realized. He lived with us for two weeks, accompanying us to ball games, to the basement in tornado warnings and in the backyard with the neighbor kids. He was a blessing for the little time we had him, and we pray that God finds him the loving, forever home he deserves.

Steamboat Horseback Memories

Okay, okay...so I see that our last photos were in the snow, and we are months past that now. Man does the time get away from me sometimes! So instead of listing a bunch of excuses, we'll just let you get a little taste of our most recent adventure.

We went to Steamboat Springs, Colorado with some of the Voss clan for the 4th of July. We encountered rainy afternoons, lush green scenery and a host of memory making experiences.

The first evening, we were able to take a horseback ride to dinner and back. The older kids were able to ride their own horses and Gibb "helped" the driver of the horse drawn wagon. Not only did he help her with the reigns...apparently he also kept the other riders in stitches with stories of his daddy's speeding tickets and bathroom issues to name a few. Sooo glad that we weren't on the wagon to be mortified in person, but we're sure that those people won't soon forget the Gibster's entertaining ways!

We were served delicious grilled meals and enjoyed trying to rope a pretend calf. Toby was able to lasso the calf on his first try (show off!) and thankfully Robin was able to get it on her second try! The kids had a blast trying their hand at it as well.

Hunter, Alaira and their cousin Kobe (who was having his first ever horse ride!) just LOVED their evening on their horses...Domino, Ladybug and Spitfire all hold special places in their hearts now. Thanks to the Saddleback Ranch for their quality, family run business and for the special memories they helped us make.
